I had a great experience staying at Downright Austin, with exceptionally friendly staff who went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. The location is fantastic for exploring Austin, being just a short walk away from the State Capitol. However, I did notice that the hotel is in need of some updates and renovations. The noise from ongoing construction was a bit disruptive, but the comfortable bed somewhat made up for it.

Rooms

The rooms were decent and clean, boasting comfortable beds. However, I felt they were showing their age and could use some freshening up.

I loved the hotel's location—close to downtown and the Capitol, making it perfect for exploring the city. However, I did notice quite a few homeless people nearby, which was concerning during my walks.
Dining

While I enjoyed my time at The Yard restaurant, I felt the menu prices were a bit high. The outdoor seating area was nice, though, adding to my dining experience.
Facilities

The hotel facilities were reasonable, but I noticed some areas, especially the elevators, seemed outdated and could use improvement. The gym, however, was recently renovated and looked great.

7.0/10

I recently stayed at Downright Austin for work, and I had a mix of experiences. The location was fantastic, with easy access to the vibrant downtown area and University of Texas. However, the room fell short of my expectations, feeling a bit dated and uncomfortable. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating, but certain aspects, like housekeeping, left something to be desired.

Rooms
6.0
The room was disappointing. it felt dated and the beds were sagging. The bathroom didn’t look clean either, and there was a note about upcoming renovations. Definitely below the standard I expected for the price.
Service
7.0
The staff was really nice and seemed attentive. I appreciated their efforts to help with check-in and even provided free breakfast passes due to pool construction, but the overall service experience was marred by issues in housekeeping.
Location
8.0
The location was ideal for me, close to attractions and great dining options. However, I did notice a lot of homeless individuals in the area, which made it feel less secure at times.
Dining
7.0
Dining options were decent. the breakfast at Morning Bird was enjoyable, but I felt the club lounge was lacking in service during the evening hours.
Facilities

I noticed the pool was closed due to construction, which was unfortunate given the heat. The hotel itself was modern and nicely decorated, though I wish there had been more options for relaxation.

My stay at the Sheraton in Austin had its ups and downs. While the hotel featured a friendly staff and offered a great breakfast buffet, I encountered issues with room cleanliness and an unexpected façade of renovation that impacted my experience.

Rooms
6.0
My room was spacious and generally clean, but I did find some cleanliness issues that were disappointing, such as a lack of towels and insufficient toiletries. Overall, it was comfortable but could definitely use improvement.
Service
8.0
The staff was friendly and accommodating, especially Jennifer at the front desk, who made my experience more pleasant by providing complimentary drink and breakfast tickets. However, there were moments of inefficiency, such as the delayed resolution to key issues.
Location
7.0
The hotel was conveniently located for exploring downtown Austin and the Capitol, but I found the walking distances to some attractions to be quite lengthy, especially through some less appealing areas.
Dining
8.0
I enjoyed the breakfast buffet at The Yard, with a great spread, particularly the fresh fruit and bacon, although my husband wasn’t a fan of the powdered eggs. It added a nice touch to our stay overall.
Facilities
6.0
The pool area looked nice, but unfortunately, it was closed due to renovations during my visit. I also appreciated the fitness center’s 24-hour access, which I found accommodating for my schedule.

My stay at this hotel was a mixed bag. While the staff provided really good service and made me feel welcome, I found the overall hotel experience lacking due to outdated decor and some maintenance issues. The outdoor pool area was a highlight for my kids, but the noise from the highway nearby was a bit disruptive. With a much-needed remodel, this place could shine! 🌟

7.2/10

My stay at Downright Austin was a mixed bag. The staff were remarkably friendly and helpful, which enhanced my experience. However, the location was a bit inconvenient, making it a long walk to downtown attractions. Additionally, some areas of the hotel felt dated and could use a refresh.

Rooms
5.0
The room size was decent, providing ample space for relaxation, but I did notice some maintenance issues, such as an old toilet seat and wallpaper that was peeling in places. It wasn't quite what I expected from a hotel with a Renaissance brand.
Service
6.0
I found the staff to be polite and eager to assist. Though there were a few hiccups with responsiveness, overall, their friendliness made me feel welcome. One incident at the front desk left a less favorable impression, as I felt somewhat disregarded during check-in.
Location
5.0
The hotel is situated on a steep hill, making access to downtown a bit challenging. It was a bit of a trek to reach the music venues and restaurants that I wanted to explore, but once I got down there, the vibrant culture of Austin was worth it.
Dining
7.0
Dining options were decent, and I appreciated the convenience of having a Starbucks on-site. The food quality at the hotel restaurant was also quite enjoyable, adding value to my stay.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel's amenities included a nice pool area, which was enjoyable. However, some common areas felt upscale while the rooms did not match that standard, giving the hotel an inconsistent feel.
